WIP congratulates Chris Lyttle, an Alumnus from the Class of 2002, on his appointment as East Belfast's Member of the Legislative Assembly in Stormont, Belfast.

In 2002, Chris joined us in Washington DC and interned at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. Chris was a student of Politics at Queen's University Belfast, and after his WIP experience he went on to attend the Harvard School of Government.
After completing his studies at Harvard,Chris became WIP's first Alumni Officer with the responsibility oflaunching WIP's first "seed grant fund " to support Alumni initiatives. One of the earliest seed grants helped to launch our sister program - the South Africa Washington Internship Program (SAWIP)
Chris' new role will see him join the Northern Ireland Assembly as an Alliance Party member - a nonsectarian political party - becoming the Alliance's 7th MLA in Stormont.
